What to do if a user demands payment but didn’t do the task correctly
As an advertiser who posts tasks, you may encounter a situation where a user didn’t do a task or didn’t finish it completely. You have the right to reject it. And this seems fair – no work, no pay. But what if the user insists on payment and even threatens you? It’s important that you, the advertiser, don’t lose money or suffer a damaged reputation. You can avoid unwanted consequences if you follow our recommendations provided in this article.
Don’t panic, but try to understand the situation
The first thing we recommend you do if a user demands payment for a rejected task is to recheck the task. It could be that the user fulfilled all the conditions in completing the task but filled out the report improperly.
Also, be sure that you’re not confusing the report of one user with another. This could happen if you are receiving a lot of reports from different users.
If you’ve taken these steps and discovered that you’ve made a mistake in refusing payment, then pay the user. You can do this even if you initially refused to pay.
If the user didn’t complete the task or made significant errors and refuses to correct them (but still demands payment), politely explain why you aren’t issuing payment and present proof that the task wasn’t done properly.
If the reason you’re refusing payment is that a task wasn’t completed or the user made mistakes when doing it, don’t panic. If the user didn’t fulfill all the requirements of the task (for example, he did only 4 of 5 points) or he made significant errors, send the task back to the user to be redone. But if you’ve already refused the task, the best thing to do is to go ahead and pay the user and then add him to the blacklist.
What the user can and can’t do
In order to properly build a relationship with a user and communicate with site administrators correctly if a dispute arises with a user over payment of a task, the advertiser needs to know what the user can and can’t do if payment for a task is refused. The actions that a user has the right to take to prove that he did nothing wrong are listed below. Also listed are things he cannot do in this situation.
If the user disagrees with your refusal to pay him for a task, he can:
- write a message asking that you rethink your decision to refuse payment;
- submit a complaint to technical support;
- leave feedback for the task.
The user does not have the right to take the following actions (and if he does, he will be harming only himself):
- use insulting speech or profanity in his correspondence;
- threaten to take some action if his demands for payment are not met;
- try to deceive technical support by submitting false information in his complaint.
If the user ignores the site’s rules, thus violating his obligations and your rights, it’s best to seek help from technical support. Not only will they ty to resolve the problem, they’ll also protect participants from those who commit violations in the future.
If all your attempts to rectify the situation haven’t yielded the results you hoped for, as a last resort, seek help from technical support. But we recommend you do this only if:
- The user refuses to complete or correct the task but continues to demand payment.
- the user committed one of the actions listed in “the user does not have the right to…”.
- Most important, if you’ve decided to write to tech support, you must be sure that you have a case.
